We have a vision of a fully inclusive Africa where children, women and girls with disabilities can realize their maximum potential.

We have a vision of a fully inclusive Africa where children, women & girls with disabilities can realize their maximum potential.

The Action Foundation’s mission is to build inclusive and resilient communities where children, women, and girls with disabilities thrive. We improve the quality of life for children, women, and girls with disabilities through our programs covering their entire lifecycle, from early years, adolescence, and adulthood.

We have a vision of a fully inclusive Africa where children, women, and girls with disabilities can realize their maximum potential. We believe in a world where children, women, and girls with disabilities live free from violence, exploitation, and discrimination and have equal opportunities to succeed.

The Action Foundation’s interventions catalyze access to health, education, and economic empowerment through direct service provision and strengthening the capacity of existing education, health systems, and networks. We empower caregivers, teachers and institutions to nurture and support children, women and girls with disabilities to reach their full potential.

In 2018, with the support of caregivers, our friends, donors, and the local community in Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya, we established The Action Foundation Therapy, Training and Resource Centre (TAF Hub). Located at the heart of Bombolulu Village, Kibera, The Hub provides essential rehabilitative services, learning, and training opportunities to children, women, and girls with disabilities and their caregivers. The Hub hosts a Therapy Center, Community Library, Workshop, and STEM Center.  The Action Foundation currently operates three additional Therapy Centers in Kawangware, Mukuru, and Mathare Informal Settlements in Nairobi.

Over the years, TAF’s work has grown from providing direct service to a small group of schools, parents, and children with disabilities to widened social impact through creative empowerment, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives in Kenya. We partner with corporates, local and regional institutions, national and county governments, and agencies because we recognize the essential role of collaboration and co-creation in yielding sustainable outcomes.
